These Terms & Conditions govern the editorial services provided by Editing Prose. By requesting a quote, submitting a manuscript sample, booking editorial services, or making a payment, you agree to these Terms.

Editorial Services

Editing Prose provides professional editorial services, including developmental editing, substantive editing, line editing, copyediting, proofreading, manuscript evaluations, and related editorial support.

The scope of each project, estimated timeline, pricing, and deliverables will be outlined in a written quote or service agreement before work begins.

While every manuscript is edited with care and attention to detail, no editing service can guarantee an error-free manuscript, publication, agent representation, commercial success, or any other specific outcome.

Manuscript Samples and Quotes

To provide an accurate quote and recommend the most appropriate service, prospective clients may be asked to upload a short sample of their manuscript.

Submitting a sample does not create an obligation to purchase services, and receiving a quote does not reserve space in the editing schedule until the project has been confirmed.

Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

• Provide accurate project information and complete manuscript files.

• Ensure they own or have permission to submit all material for editing.

• Respond promptly to editorial questions when necessary.

• Review and accept project quotes before work begins.

Delays in providing requested information or responses may affect the project timeline.

Fees and Payment

Project fees are based on the manuscript’s length, complexity, condition, and the level of editing requested.

Payment requirements, including any deposit, will be outlined in your quote or service agreement before work begins.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, final payment is due before completed edited files are delivered.

Changes to Project Scope

If a manuscript changes significantly after a quote has been provided, or if additional editing is requested beyond the original agreement, a revised quote may be required.

Additional rounds of editing are billed separately unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Cancellations

If a project is cancelled after work has begun, the client is responsible for payment for work completed up to the cancellation date.

Any deposit paid to reserve time in the editing schedule becomes non-refundable once editing has begun.

Confidentiality

Editing Prose treats all manuscripts, manuscript samples, and client communications as confidential.

Your work will not be shared, published, or distributed without your permission except as necessary to provide requested services or operate this website.

Intellectual Property

You retain all ownership and copyright of your manuscript.

Editing Prose makes no claim of ownership over your work. All editorial suggestions, comments, and revisions become part of your manuscript upon full payment for services.

Limitation of Liability

Editing services are provided using professional judgment and reasonable care.

Editing Prose is not responsible for publishing decisions, agent representation, commercial performance, legal issues arising from manuscript content, or any indirect or consequential damages resulting from the use of editorial services.

Any liability arising from editorial services is limited to the amount paid for the specific project.

Changes to These Terms

These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time. The version published on this website at the time editorial services are booked will apply to that project.
